Mission: to bring to you everyday stories of everyday lives and
images of everyday living... from around the world.
On my mission to meet the world, I’ve been exposed to some of the kindest souls and spirits. I am extremely ambitious about interacting with as much of this place as possible in the short amount of time that we each have.
Everyday I am perplexed in some way or another (or in many, many ways) by our humankind. More specifically, by the amazing kindness, trust, empathy, and similarities that exist amongst us.
This produces a constant urge in me to travel to new places, (whether it be this weekend to a village nearby or next year to a far-away land,) to further witness and take part in more fascinating inter-human relations. The more I travel, the more I learn about humanity, and the more I learn, the more enamored and intrigued I become.
I truly believe, based on the experiences of the past eight years of my life, that two strangers from whichever cultures, countries, or socio-economic backgrounds, if left alone to just talk, without the constraints of societal or cultural norms, could connect on one level or another.
This face-to-face time seems to be missing from politics, international relations, and even family relationships and workplaces. Much of what people ‘know’ about other people in the world, even people that live close enough to be called ‘neighbors,’ seems to come from very generalized accounts which gloss over the intricacies of interpersonal interaction. The purpose of this website is to share with you these micro-level, intimate human connections and the stories they uncover and produce, supplementing the macro-level generalizations we read every day in major newspapers. “Bradley” “Ahmed” and “Yoshi” provide a different picture than “The Americans,” “The Saudi Arabians,” and “The Japanese”. “Arturo” “Peresa” and “Sebastian” give a different meaning to “The Colombians,” “The Angolans” and “The French”.
Unique by nature, yet not necessarily unfamiliar, these are stories of everyday lives all over the world, and images of everyday living. By sharing my observations, conversations, and embraces with people from all over the world, I hope to provide hope and proof that human beings really are amazing creatures and that we do all have the capability to love and care for each other. Enjoy!
